When building a low temperature cold room /walk in freezer, we naturally think flooring is quite necessary.However, when it comes to a medium temperature cold room/walk in cooler, many people take it for granted that it doesn’t need a flooring. Actually this is a Wrong idea.

Heat transfer is an important factor related to the performance of cold room. Cold storage pannels are used to cut off the energy exchange between hot air outside and cold air inside, if there is no floor, it will cause two bad results:
1) In the cold room, the refrigeration system needs to cool the floor while cooling the food. If it is a concrete floor, it will consume a lot of cold. these floors are stealing your money. Do you really have to pay for it? The answer is No! Just equipped with floor pannels,things will be changed.

2) If the cold room is directly set on the ground,sealing is a big problem, because a large amount of cold energy will run out through the gap between the ground and the wall panels.
The direct consequence of the above two situations is that the compressor will overload and work continiously, then you have to pay a lot of electricity bills, while the life of the compressor will also be shortened.

You might say I need a trolley to get in and out, it’s inconvenient to have a floor installed.

Here we have two suggestions for you.
1) If you really do not want a floor pannel, then before building, please carefully seal the floor, you can add some INSULATION materials, foam and adhesive around of bottom of wall panels to ensure that the cold energy will not overflow through the bottom gap. In reality, U channel fixed onto concrete ground could be also a protection method.

2) A ramp can be installed at the door of the cold storage to facilitate the entry and exit of trolleys.

Well, if your location permits, a cold room with floor is more recommanded from us.
